Steven Stamkos scored two late goals for the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night in their game against the Washington Capitals. This is not out of the ordinary considering Stamkos is probably going to break the 60 goal mark this season, but for Tampa's rivals on the other side of the state, it was vital.
The goals solidified a Lightning win over the Caps, and it put the Panthers in a situation where they can clinch the Southeast Division (for the first time ever) and a playoff spot with a win at home on Tuesday.
Needless to say, the Cats are grateful, perhaps none more than forward Stephen Weiss.
#FlaPanthers Stephen Weiss: I sent Steven Stamkos a text (after beating #Caps), told him I loved him.
