Alex Pietrangelo Injury Update: Blues Defenseman Out for Game 2

Stay connected with SB Nation

Blues' star defender Alex Pietrangelo was unsure for Game 2 and skated with the team Monday morning, but he won't take the ice, per Blues beat reporter Norm Sanders:

Pietrangelo was hurt in the second period of Game 1 after he was shoved face-first into the boards by Dwight King. The hit was dirty, but King only received a two-minute minor for boarding and received no additional penalty. Taking out one of the team's better players might not be the nicest strategy - and hopefully, wasn't a strategy at all for the Kings - but Pietrangelo's absence late was a deciding factor in helping L.A. pull out the victory and came with practically no cost. It's unclear when Pietrangelo will be healthy again, but the longer it is, the worse for the Blues.
