Sometimes, big saves turn into huge momentum swings, and that seems to be what happened late in the first period of Game 2 between the Rangers and Capitals on Monday evening. If you're to look at the scoresheet, you'll see that Jason Chimera scored a goal at the 17:14 mark. If you're to look at the video, you'll see much more than that.

So much happening. For starters, Chris Kreider was in the box serving a too many men on the ice penalty. He stepped out just as John Carlson flubbed a moving puck at the blueline. It made its way out to center ice, where Kreider was able to pick it up and sprint towards the Capitals goal. Braden Holtby made the gigantic save, and up the ice Washington went.

That's when things got weird. They dumped the puck into the New York zone and Henrik Lundqvist came out behind his goal to play it. Chimera met him there and won the loose puck when Lundqvist fumbled it a bit. It came right out in front of the net and Matt Hendricks threw it on net with a back-hander. Lundqvist went diving towards the crease, Anton Stralman threw his body in front of the puck and it seemed as though crisis was averted for the Rangers.

It wasn't. The puck trickled through the crease and out to Chimera, who poked it back towards the goal mouth. It hit the skate of defenseman Ryan McDonagh and crossed the goal line -- brutally for New Yorkers, beautifully for Washingtonians.
