The Boston Bruins begin their title defense in these 2012 NHL playoffs on Thursday night at TD Garden. They'll try to get by the Washington Capitals in the seven-game Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series.
The defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins will kick off their title defense against the Washington Capitals in the 2012 NHL playoffs. The No. 2-seeded Bruins finished atop the Northeast Division while the Caps lost their bid for a division title of their own on the season's final day.
Washington is loaded with talent, but hasn't been able to put it all together after a strong 7-0 start to the season in October. A month later, head coach Bruce Boudreau was replaced by franchise legend Dale Hunter, who's had a rocky go of things at the helm in the nation's capital.
Nevertheless, the Caps could be a tough challenge for the Bruins, although there's no doubt that Boston enters the series as favorites to advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Here's the full series schedule:
