The Detroit Red Wings and Nashville Predators, two familiar Central Division rivals, will do battle in the Conference Quarterfinal round of the 2012 NHL playoffs.
The Nashville Predators have gone all-in this season in their attempt to win a Stanley Cup. Little do they know regarding the futures of players like Ryan Suter, Shea Weber and Alexander Radulov, and with several deadline deals that bolstered their lineup down the stretch, it's clear that David Poile and his club are in win-now mode.
And hey, lucky them! They drew the Detroit Red Wings in Round 1! The Wings don't appear to be at quite the same caliber this season as they have been in recent years, but that doesn't mean they aren't dangerous. They are Detroit, after all, and in this series between two familiar Central Division foes, the victor might not have much energy left when all is said and done.
