Jaroslav Halak Injury: Blues Goalie Will Miss Entire Second Round

Stay connected with SB Nation

The St. Louis Blues are currently down 2-0 in their Western Conference semifinals series against the Los Angeles Kings. If things weren't bad enough for the Blues, who now have to win at least one of the next two games in enemy territory to keep the series alive, they have now learned that goalie Jaroslav Halak will now be out for the entirety of the second round of the 2012 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs.

Halak was injured in the first round of the playoffs, in Game 2 against the San Jose Sharks, when teammate Barret Jackman inadvertently collided with him during a save. Halak has been out of action ever since. According to Chris Pinkert at the official Blues website, St. Louis head coach Ken Hitchcock has announced that Halak is officially unavailable for the remainder of the series.

"Jaro is out for the series," Hitchcock said. "He won't play in the series."

The teams will play Game 3 in Los Angeles on Thursday night.
