Rangers Vs. Capitals, NHL Playoffs 2012 Game 7: Rangers Lead 1-0 After First Period

The Rangers struck first in Game 7 of their series with the Capitals and took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Brad Richards scored to get the Rangers on the board just 1:32 into the game. Richards' goal was assisted by Carl Hagelin and Michael Del Zotto.

The two teams tied with eight shots on goal each during the first period, while the Rangers held a 4-2 advantage on takeaways. New York failed to capitalize on the only power play opportunity of the first period. Washington's Matt Hendricks picked up the only penalty when he was whistled for hooking.

The winner of this game will move on to face the New Jersey Devils in the Eastern Conference Finals.
