The Los Angeles Kings have a great performance and a road win under their belt heading into Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals against the Phoenix Coyotes,

If their performance on Sunday night is any indication, the Los Angeles Kings aren't going to have much more trouble with the Phoenix Coyotes than they did in the previous round of the playoffs, against the St. Louis Blues. A solid performance by Coyotes goalie Mike Smith was the only thing that kept Phoenix in the game at home against L.A., as the visitors put 48 shots on target in a 4-2 win.

Phoenix tied Game 1 after going down on two separate occasions, butt the box score doesn't indicate that the game should have been as close as it was. The Coyotes are going to need a considerably better performance and a win in Game 2 to feel like they have any shot in the Western Conference finals.

Between Smith's likely unsustainable .936 save percentage and some uncharacteristically ordinary goalkeeping by Jonathan Quick on Phoenix's two goals, the Coyotes' performance might have actually been worse than the box score indicates. They were stunned in the third period, especially, and looked as out of their element as a playoff team can possibly look in a game in their own building.
