If Game 1 and the first period of Game 2 are any indication, the Los Angeles Kings are going to cruise through the Western Conference Finals just as easily as they cruised through their previous two series. Phoenix Coyotes goalie Mike Smith is keeping his team in the game, but the Kings managed to get one by him and they lead 1-0 after one period.
Dwight King scored the goal, his fourth of the playoffs, with 7:45 remaining in the first period. Drew Doughty set up the goal and picked up the primary assist on what actually appeared to be a shot, and King provided a deflection that made the shot unstoppable for Smith.
Otherwise, the Coyotes goalie has been great, with 14 saves. Jonathan Quick has been solid in the opposite net as well, making nine saves.
