Devils Lucky To Survive Second Period With 3-2 Lead

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Rangers may have picked up a lucky bounce early in the second period to trim New Jersey’s lead to 3-2, but after a dominant period for New York, that’s probably a fair result.

The Rangers controlled the entire frame from start to finish, and it took New Jersey just about the entire 20 minutes before they put together a shift resembling the kind of play they’ve established over the course of this series.

We all thought this game was over when New Jersey jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game, but if they let this pivotal swing contest slip away, it’s going to be utterly heartbreaking.
