This is Brad Richards of the New York Rangers taking a shot on goal. In that goal: New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. Oy.
Maybe he was just trying to keep the guy company. After all, it had been quite some time since Lundqvist was tested by New Jersey's shooters, who had generated quite a bit of zone time but hadn't been able to get a shot on goal. They just weren't getting good looks at the net thanks to Ranger players jumping in every shooting and passing lane in sight.
In reality, Richards was clearly trying to clear this puck out to the neutral zone by wrapping it around the boards behind the net, but um ... he missed. Can you imagine if that broke the tie?
