Blueshirts United reports that Gaborik will have surgery in New York on Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder. It is unclear when and how Gaborik injured his shoulder, and there is no immediate timeline for his recovery process and return to action.
Gaborik appeared in all 102 Rangers games (including the postseason) in 2011-12 season and had a year that saw him head to the All-Star Game and lead the Rangers with 41 goals and 35 assists in the regular season. He scored five goals and had six assists in the postseason.
