The Edmonton Oilers announced that Craig MacTavish will now serve as the team's Vice President of Hockey Operations.

The Edmonton Oilers have shaken up their front office a bit on Monday, naming a former Oilers head coach to their front office. General manager Steve Tambellini announced on Monday that Craig MacTavish will join the Oilers as the team's Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations.

MacTavish recently coached the Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League, a Vancouver Canucks affiliate team, and lead the Wolves to the third best record in the conference. MacTavish also coached the Oilers from 2000-2001 to 2008-2009, picking up a 301-252-103 record during his tenure including being the third coach to lead the Oilers to the Stanley Cup finals.

MacTavish is just the 36th coach in NHL history to win more than 300 games in their career.
