Chris Kelly and Gregory Campbell will both return to Beantown after signing multi-year contracts with the Bruins.

The Boston Bruins will be slightly hamstrung in the 2012 NHL free agency period, what with Tim Thomas' sudden decision to take 2012-13 off/retirement leaving a cap hit on the Bruins' books without a player on the ice to show for it. But that doesn't mean the Bruins will be completely silent: they signed both Chris Kelly and Gregory Campbell to multi-year contracts on Monday, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.

Of the two, Kelly, who signed for four years and $12 million, is the bigger prize. The center played in 80 games for Boston in 2011-12, and netted 39 points, on 20 goals and 19 assists.

But Campbell, a hardy defender, is no slouch: his 18 points in 2011-12 for Boston were down from his 29 in 2010-11, but he was still a capable part of the B's back line. His deal is for three years and $4.8 million.
