The Los Angeles Kings stormed through the Stanley Cup Playoffs until Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals or so, laying waste to opponents' offenses and getting just enough goals to be comfortable. Then, the Kings lost Game 4 and Game 5.
But after pumping in three goals against the New Jersey Devils in a dominant first period, the Kings look ready to be crowned again.
Dustin Brown scored two of those goals in a span of 1:42, and Trevor Lewis added a third not three minutes later to give the Kings their edge. All three goals came on the power play, which gave Los Angeles the edge it needed to break through after throttling the Devils in the first 10 minutes and getting nothing to show for it.
Los Angeles took 13 shots to New Jersey's four in the first period, and now sits 40 minutes from claiming its first Stanley Cup.
