It's unfortunate and sort of understandable, but as the time ticks off the clock in Game 6, the Devils have gotten more and more frustrated with the Kings. It's showing in their play. We'll ignore the first period penalty that likely ended Steve Bernier's season, but Ryan Carter and David Clarkson have allowed the emotions to boil over just a bit too far.
Here's Carter crashing Jonathan Quick's net a bit too strongly in the second period. He is, indeed, quite mad.
Carter was given a roughing penalty and a ten-minute misconduct for the play. About four minutes later, David Clarkson mouthed off to a few Kings and got a bit physical and saw a ten-minute break of his own. Both players returned by the end of the second period.
Meanwhile, the Kings are playing physical too -- but they're doing it cleanly. Here's Alec Martinez adding injury to insult for Travis Zajac:
The Devils aren't quite out of this thing just yet with some power play time to kick off the third period, but they need a three-goal period just to tie Game 6. That's a tough mountain to climb.
