Rick Nash is heading to the New York Rangers. After months of posturing, Columbus Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson considerably lowered his originally reported asking price, but the return for Nash was still substantial: Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, defensive prospect Tim Erixon and a first-round pick. A third-rounder and minor-league defenseman Steven Delisle are headed to the Rangers as well.
Over at Blueshirt Banter, Rangers fans are ecstatic about the trade.
That's an absolutely steal on Glen Sather's part. Sather played the waiting game, and it absolutely paid off in the end. The fact that Sather was able to complete a deal without including [Derek] Stepan, [Ryan] McDonagh, or [Chris] Kreider, is easily a win-win for the Rangers. The top-six for the Rangers looks pretty lethal with Rick Nash being added to the likes of Brad Richards, Marian Gaborik, Chris Kreider, Derek Stepan, and Ryan Callahan/Carl Hagelin.
It's a scary lineup, indeed.
