The Philadelphia Flyers made a big move Monday, agreeing to a six-year contract extension with Scott Hartnell. As is the case with most long-term extensions, opinions of the deal depend greatly on the value of the contract. Reports have varied as to the value of Hartnell's contract, making for a wide array of reaction by Flyers' fans.
Initially, Anthony SanFilippo reported the deal was worth $5.5 million per season, a number a few fans thought was too high.
"I love Hartnell, but that's too much." - doubleh
"yeesh" - ohshay
When Tim Panaccio later reported the deal would average $4.75 million per season, the reaction was a little more positive.
That's much better than the $5.5 million per year number originally reported - Travis Hughes
Still a bit high but I could live with that. - EREX21
Regardless of the contract terms, at least one fan is happy to see Hartnell sticking in Philadelphia long term.
I am very happy about this. I think he will live up to last year. With the possibility of improving. - Gta0012
