With the NHL's Collective Bargaining Agreement set to expire in September, KHL Champions Dynamo Moscow are set to make a move for Washington Capitals' star Alex Ovechkin if there is a lockout this offseason.
In an interview with Russian newspaper Ria Novosti, Dynamo general manager Andrey Safronov said that they will approach the Capitals captain if the NHL and NHLPA are unable to come to an agreement, telling Ria Novosti,
"We will talk with Ovechkin. It will be up to the head coach."
The KHL was a big landing spot for NHL players during the last lockout during the 2004-05 season, as 78 players moved to Russia that year. Some of the players that moved over included Vincent Lecavalier, Daniel Heatley and Patrik Elias.
