Lubomir Visnovsky Trade From Ducks To Islanders Ruled Valid

The Lubomir Visnovsky trade from Anaheim to the New York Islanders is now officially valid, reports TSN's Darren Dreger. The deal, which had a no-move clause that caused a review, was made all the way back in June at the 2012 NHL Draft.

Visnovsky, a 35-year-old defenseman who scored six goals and 21 assists in 68 games last season, went to the Islanders in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2013 Draft. Visnovsky has one year remaining on a five-year contract dating back to the 2008 season. The cap hit -- $5.6 million -- is actually larger than the $3 million owed to Visnovsky in the final year of the deal.

USA Today reports that the concern regarding the no-trade clause centered around a greivance Visnosvky filed after being traded from Edmonton to the Ducks in 2010.
