The St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks will meet in an early season battle between two early season Western Conference standouts.

The St. Louis Blues will challenge the Chicago Blackhawks in an early season showdown between two Western Conference standouts on Tuesday night.

With both teams entering the contest with perfect 2-0-0 records, one team will obviously be ending the night still undefeated.

St. Louis is playing their second game in as many days, following a 4-3 shootout win over the Nashville Predators on Monday night. Despite trailing the team at two separate points in the contest, the Blues managed to tie things up at 3 in the third period to force overtime.

Their first game of the season was much less dramatic as the team registered six goals in a shutout and blowout of the Detroit Red Wings.

Rookie forward Vladimir Tarasenko has stood out in the early goings of the season, as he enters Tuesday night as the team's leading scorer with three goals and two assists for five points.

Chicago hasn't played since competing in back-to-back games this weekend. Over the course of those consecutive games, the club proved that they have a considerable amount of firepower, generating 11 combined goals.

After ruining the Los Angeles Kings' banner celebration on Saturday, the Blackhawks defeated the Phoenix Coyotes by a final score of 6-4 on Sunday.

Forward Marian Hossa has proven (thus far, at least) that he is back to normal after sustaining a concussion during the playoffs last season. Entering Tuesday night, he is the Blackhawks' leading scorer with four goals and one assist for five points.

The game between the Blues and Blackhawks is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on Fox Sports Midwest and Comcast Sportsnet Chicago.
