Jason Spezza will be out of Tuesday night's game against the Washington Capitals due to an upper-body injury.
Ottawa Senators forward Jason Spezza has sustained an upper-body injury and will not be available for the team's game against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night, according to head coach Paul MacLean.
Spezza will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.
Tuesday marked the second consecutive day that Spezza was unable to participate in practice. It is believed that his status for Wednesday night's game against the Montreal Canadiens is also in question.
With Spezza out of the lineup, Peter Regin was moved onto the team's top line with Milan Michalek and Jakob Silfverberg acting as his wingers in morning skate line rushes. In addition, American Hockey League call-up Mika Zibanejad was inserted onto the team's fourth line with Jim O'Brien and Kaspars Daugavins on the wings.
Zibanejad is currently on break due to the AHL's All-Star break. With captain Daniel Alfredsson fighting a flu bug, the team used the opportunity to get Zibanejad some practice time with the team. Now, with Spezza out, it appears as though the team's top prospect will see some game action, as well.
