Oilers vs. Coyotes preview: Chad Johnson gets nod for 2nd straight game on Weds.

The Phoenix Coyotes (2-4-0) will host the Edmonton Oilers (3-2-0) at Jobing.com Arena for the only time this season on Wednesday night.

It is the first of three meetings between the teams this season.

Phoenix will be entering the contest off a 4-0 shutout victory over the Nashville Predators on Monday night. With starting goaltender Mike Smith nursing an injured groin, the team has turned to back-up Jason LaBarbera and American Hockey League call-up Chad Johnson to take over the reigns.

After LaBarbera dropped two straight, Johnson got the nod against Nashville and recorded his first career shutout in his Phoenix debut. He will have a chance to follow up that performance on Wednesday night as he has already been confirmed as the starter.

Phoenix will look to give Johnson some offensive support, as the team ranks fourth in the Western Conference in goals scored this season (21).

Devan Dubnyk is projected as the Oilers' starter for Wednesday night, compiling a 3-2-0 record with a .907 save percentage and 3.18 GAA this season. He will back stop the team's eighth ranked penalty kill, which is currently operating at an 85.2 percent success rate this season.

The most lethal component of the Oilers' attack will likely come from their No. 1 ranked power play, which is successfully converting on 35.7 percent of their chances. Comprising 66 percent of the team's total offense, the Oilers power play is something Phoenix's penalty kill (80 percent success rate, tied for 14th) will likely want to avoid.

The game is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m., ET and will be televised on Fox Sports Arizona Plus.
