Mike Commodore has been extended an invitation from the Montreal Canadiens to join the team at training camp.

The Montreal Canadiens will be inviting defenseman Mike Commodore to training camp this year, according to a report by RDS on Tuesday.

Commodore has been playing with the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs, since signing a minor-league contract with the team in November.

The 33-year-old Fort Saskatchewan native has played with seven NHL teams since making his debut during the 2000-01 season. Originally selected with the No. 42 overall pick in the 1999 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils, Commodore has spent time with the Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, Ottawa Senators and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Commodore has made two appearances in the Stanley Cup Final. In 2004, he was part of the Calgary team that fell to Tampa Bay. In 2006, he returned with Carolina when they defeated the Edmonton Oilers in seven games.

In 484 regular season games, Commore has registered 23 goals and 83 assists for a total of 106 points.
