Five NHL questions: Day game hockey in Boston, Jason Pominville returns to Buffalo

A daily feature which asks the five biggest questions about today's NHL action. Will they be answered? (That doesn't count as one of the five questions.)

1. Can the Red Wings keep-up the momentum on the power play?

Detroit has struggled with the man-advantage this season, but managed to produce three power play goals against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night. Boston enters the contest with the sixth ranked penalty kill in the league, neutralizing 86.7 percent of their infractions.

2. Can Boston hold to Detroit to less than two goals?

The Bruins have only allowed five goals against in four games this season, with goaltender Tuukka Rask registering a 1.00 goals-against average with a .965 save percentage over that span. The Red Wings have been held to two goals or less on two occasions this season (one of which came against the Bruins) and are coming off a 5-2 defeat of the Flyers on Saturday night.

3. Will Nail Yakupov be a healthy scratch against the Capitals?

Yakupov was a healthy scratch for the first time in his career on Saturday night. The second such instance might come sooner-than-later, as he could sit for a second consecutive game on Monday night. He was already unhappy about the first instance, will anything come the second?

4. How many goals will be scored in the first period between the Capitals and Oilers?

The only team who has allowed more first period goals than Washington is Edmonton. The two clubs have combined for 17 goals against in 10 first periods, and have allowed a total of 45 goals against this season. Considering the fire-power on both sides, there could be a healthy dose of scoring in Washington on Monday night.

5. How will Jason Pominville be received in his return to Buffalo?

The Sabres former-captain will make his first appearance in First Niagra Center since being traded to the Minnesota Wild last season. How will Buffalo's frustrated fan base respond?
