It was just two years ago that Brian Elliott had a breakout season with the St. Louis Blues, posting a league-best .940 save percentage in 38 starts. Looking back on it now, it was probably one of the most random, unexpected individual seasons in recent memory.
Based on his career in the years before and after that season, it's an obvious outlier.
He was making his second appearance of the season for the Blues on Friday night against the Winnipeg Jets and it didn't get off to a great start.
First, on an initial slap shot from the neutral zone he kicked a fat rebound out into the slot. It was there that Olli Jokinen sent an innocent looking knuckle puck Elliott's way and, well, then this happened...
Elliott's name has come up in trade speculation recently and if it's true that the Blues are shopping him -- or that other teams are interested -- that isn't the type of play that is going to drive up the price.
