Jonas Brodin left Tuesday's game after he was hit in the face by the puck.

The Minnesota Wild lost defenseman Jonas Brodin in the first period Tuesday's game against Nashville after an innocent looking dump-in by Gabriel Bourque hit him right in the face.

The injury occurred in the first period and Brodin did not return for the remainder of Minnesota's 2-0 win.

Minnesota coach Mike Yeo said after the game that Brodin was taken to the hospital for X-rays on his face and that there is currently no update.

Brodin, 20, has quickly become one of Minnesota's best players on the blue line and is coming off a stellar rookie season that saw him spend most of his time playing next to Ryan Suter.

He is off to a tremendous start in 2013-14 and entered Tuesday's game with three goals and three assists in his first nine games.
