The girlfriend of Semyon Varlamov is accusing him of assault. He will stand in front of a judge on Thursday.

Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov is being accused of assaulting his girlfriend, according to the victim's attorney as reported by Valerie Castro of CBS 4 Denver on Wednesday night.

Castro spoke exclusively with defense attorney Robert Abrams, who is representing Varlamov's girlfriend. Abrams explained that the woman is accusing Varlamov of throwing her against a wall and stomping on her in his Denver apartment on Tuesday morning. She alleges that Varlamov spent Monday afternoon drinking heavily prior to committing the assault. The woman was hospitalized in relation to the injuries she sustained in the alleged attack.

Abrams stated that this was not an isolated incident, but that it was a breaking point.

Varlamov turned himself in on Wednesday evening and will stand before a judge on Thursday. His father, Alexander, conducted a phone interview with Russian outlet R-Sport and stated that no crime was committed.

The Avalanche released a statement on Wednesday explaining that the organization was aware of the charges but would abstain from comment until the conclusion of the investigation.
