No NHL discipline for Steve Downie after hit on Roman Josi

The Predators weren't happy with the hit after the game and hinted at future payback.

Colorado Avalanche winger Steve Downie will not face any discipline from the NHL for his controversial hit on Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi on Friday night, according to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

Downie knocked Josi out of the game with a hard hit midway through the second period as Josi carried the puck through the corner in his own end. Downie received a two-minute charging penalty for the play. As expected, the NHL reviewed the hit but decided not to schedule a hearing with Downie.

The fallout from the hit might not be over, however. The Preds were less than pleased with the play, and Predators forward Paul Gaustad got personal with his comments after the game.

He also hinted at future retribution, pointing out that these two division rivals play each other "several times this year." The Predators will reevaluate Josi's injury later today.
