NHL scores: Teemu Selanne wins final game in Winnipeg, Flyers still winless

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

It was a happy Sunday for an NHL legend, but a disappointing one for everyone else.

Sunday was a night for unhappy coaches. Not the "yell at players, break stanchions" kind of unhappy, mind you. No, the coaches on a few of the NHL benches Sunday night have to be rather displeased with what they witnessed.

Peter Laviolette's Flyers turned in their third straight dismal performance in a loss to Carolina, as his seat continues to get warmer and warmer. Claude Noel called his team's effort "atrocious," "poor," "unbelievable" and "incredible" after the Jets blew leads late to the Ducks. And while the Canucks won, John Tortorella is always unhappy.

Not a good way to start the week, but let's dive right in.

Hurricanes 2, Flyers 1

Anaheim 3, Winnipeg 2

Vancouver 5, Calgary 4 (OT)

Five Questions

On Sunday we asked you five burning questions about the day's games. These are you cool, soothing answers.

1. Will the Flyers or Hurricanes get their first win?

That honor belongs to the Hurricanes, who didn't have to do anything particularly flashy to earn it. Fact is, they simply played solid hockey. They capitalized on chances they created, keeping the Flyers on their heels from the get-go by pushing play up the ice. At this rate, I'm not sure the Flyers will get their first win for awhile. They're trying too hard, and it shows.

2. What will the scene be like in Winnipeg?

Emotional. Teemu Selanne didn't shed any tears when the Jets fans gave him a standing ovation during the first period, but plenty of us were at home.

3. Are the Sedin twins just starting to heat up?

The Sedins both registered an assist on Sunday, but mostly took a back seat as their teammates led a furious comeback win in overtime. Consider it nothing more than a blip for two of the most talented players in the NHL.

4. Can the Flyers stay out of the penalty box?

Nope. The Flyers were penalized four times on Sunday, bringing their total to a league-leading 15 times shorthanded. However, the penalty kill was much improved in keeping the Hurricanes off the scoreboard while on the man advantage. Peter Laviolette will take any silver linings he can get right now.

5. Can the Jets make it to 3-0-0?

They were oh so close. If not for a poorly timed trip by Zach Bogosian, they might have snuck away with a win. Even so, the Jets started strong once again and look much more dangerous than anyone could've predicted. If they can somehow figure out how to not get grossly outshot every night they might go places.

Impact Moment

Teemu Selanne's final trip to Winnipeg couldn't have gone better. The Ducks won and he was paid tribute to by the fans in the middle of the game.

After the game, he thanked the fans:

It's been a fun ride, Peter Laviolette:
