Leafs vs. Sabres: Colton Orr rescues Dion Phaneuf from fight

Rich Lam

Orr made a dramatic entrance to back up his captain.

Maple Leafs forward Colton Orr is many things, but hero is not one of them. Or so we thought before his heroics on Saturday.

Midway through the second period, Leafs teammate Dion Phaneuf went after Buffalo Sabres forwards Cody McCormick and John Scott for a hit earlier in the frame. Orr, sensing that his captain was hopelessly outnumbered, rode in for the rescue.

It was dramatic.

As you can see, Orr almost seriously injured John Scott with his skate blades.

Everyone involved got sent to the penalty box, but John Scott got sent to the dressing room with a game misconduct. At least he's safe there from flying skate blades. Yeesh.
