Gustav Nyquist scores 17 seconds into game

Rick Osentoski-US PRESSWIRE

Yes, Gustav Nyquist is good enough to play in the NHL.

Red Wings fans have been waiting for Gustav Nyquist to get a look in the NHL since the start of the season.

He opened the year playing in the American Hockey League, and after dominating the league for 15 games (seven goals, 14 assists) the Red Wings finally called him up for their game on Thursday against Carolina as they hope to end a seven-game losing streak.

It took Nyquist 17 seconds to make an impact.

Yeah, so the Red Wings might want to consider keeping this guy around for a while.
