5 NHL questions: Coyotes look to continue home-ice dominance

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

A daily feature that asks five questions about today's biggest action. Will they be answered? (That doesn't count as one of the five questions.)

1. How many goals will Alex Ovechkin score?

Ovechkin has been the one constant for the Capitals this season and with his two goals on Friday he's on a pace that would give him more than 70 goals this season if he's able to maintain it.

2. How will Marc-Andre Fleury play in Montreal?

After getting the night off on Friday, Marc-Andre Fleury is back in the Pittsburgh net when the Penguins travel to Montreal on Saturday. Fleury has struggled throughout his career against his hometown team, posting a .893 save percentage in 26 career regular season games.

3. Will the Red Wings win again?

The Red Wings snapped a seven-game losing streak on Thursday and have a chance to win consecutive games for the first time in three weeks. They're getting a struggling Ottawa Senators team at Joe Louis Arena on Saturday.

4. Will the Coyotes continue their home-ice dominance?

In 11 home games this season the Coyotes are 9-0-2, have earned at least a point in every game, and have scored fewer than four goals just four times (they scored three in each of those games). They've been one of the biggest early season surprises in the NHL and their dominance on home ice has been a big part of that. They're going to get a big test on Saturday night when Anaheim comes to town. The Ducks are 7-6-2 on the road and have lost four straight away from home.

5. How many goals will Steve Mason allow against the Islanders?

It's still amazing to look at the Philadelphia Flyers and see Steve Mason, one of the worst goalies in the NHL over the past few years, with a .930 save percentage. He's been one of their best players this season and is scheduled to be in net against the New York Islanders on Saturday. He's allowed more than two goals just five times this season and has yet to allow more than three.
