Anaheim Ducks forward Teemu Selanne will return to the lineup for Wednesday night's game against the Phoenix Coyotes, the team announced after morning skate.
Selanne sustained a mouth injury after he was hit in the face with an errant stick against the Philadelphia Flyers last week. Selanne lost several teeth as a result and required oral surgery. In total, he was forced to miss three games while recovering. The aging star was able to practice with teammates on Wednesday morning and confirmed that he would be available to play against Phoenix.
Anaheim enters the night with the most points in the NHL and currently possesses a two-game winning streak. However, Phoenix might be the league's hottest team as the Coyotes have registered points in 12 of 13 games and are currently in the midst of a five-game winning streak.
All this sets the stage for a thrilling Pacific Division battle on Wednesday night.
