Steven Stamkos is one of the best players in the NHL and doesn't need any help from the other team when it comes to scoring goals.
Unfortunately for the Edmonton Oilers, they had some problems in the first period of Thursday's game and developed a pretty bad habit of just flat out giving the puck to Stamkos in the offensive zone. He made them pay twice.
First, it was Nail Yakupov guilty of a turnover as he attempted to avoid a hit at the blue line, which was then followed by Stamkos firing this laser from the slot.
Just a few minutes later it was Jordan Eberle fumbling a pass from Andrew Ference along the wall. Stamkos picked it up in stride as the rest of the Oilers kind of stood around as he circled the net and score on the wraparound.
So yeah, the Oilers were having some problems in their own end of the ice. The goals were Stamkos' 12th and 13th of the season.
