NHL 5 Questions: Rangers try to salvage homestand, Jets visit Vancouver

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Will New York bounce back, and can the Canucks lock down Winnipeg's power play?

Can the Rangers right the ship?

New York's nine-game homestand was supposed to be a prime opportunity for the Rangers to make up ground in the Metropolitan division. Instead they've gone 1-4-2 and lost to the hapless Islanders on Friday. Henrik Lundqvist was leaky, letting in four goals on just 19 shots. Cam Talbot will get the nod on Sunday. Can he do what Lundqvist couldn't?

Will the Wild get it done on the power play?

Minnesota went 0-for-5 on the man advantage in a 5-2 loss to Pittsburgh on Thursday. Mike Yeo is struggling to find a unit that works, although Zach Parise has looked good with any group. The Wild would be wise to capitalize on the Rangers' mistakes.

On the flip side, can the Canucks slow down the Jets' power play?

Winnipeg hasn't had any problems scoring on the man advantage lately, tallying six power play goals in its last five games. It's a nice turnaround for what was the league's worst unit, but the Jets willl be hard pressed to find the same success against Roberto Luongo and the Canucks.

Speaking of Luongo, how will he bounce back after a lackluster effort?

Luongo had gone six straight games allowing less than two goals before letting in four in Dallas on Thursday. He's a big reason why the Canucks have gone 8-1-1 in their last 10 games, so don't be surprised if he comes out and shuts down the Jets.

Will Evander Kane continue setting the tone for Winnipeg?

Kane returned from a lower-body injury last week and registered four points in three games. He's also led the team with physicality, something the Jets will try and focus on against the Canucks. Look for the Vancouver native to be extra motivated on Sunday, which should spark the rest of his teammates.
