Blue Jackets vs. Sharks: Two fights in the first period

The Jackets sure like to fight. A lot.

The Columbus Blue Jackets got off to a quick start in this one thanks to Brandon Dubinsky's first goal of the year less than a minute into the first frame. But instead of becoming a high-scoring affair, two fights between the Sharks and Jackets slowed things down in the first period.

The first fight came just two minutes in when Jared Boll challenged Matt Pelech to go a round.

Later on, Adam Burish made the poor decision to go after Derek Dorsett.

The two fighting majors were the 15th and 16th fighting majors this season for the Blue Jackets. That means that only a quarter of the way into the season, Columbus has more fighting majors than the Detroit Red Wings had all last year. Of course, it doesn't hurt when the league-leader in penalty minutes (Dorsett) is on your team.

The Blue Jackets might not be any good this year, but they seem ready to go down swinging.
