The Philadelphia Flyers have recalled forward Harry Zolnierczyk from the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, according to multiple reports on Tuesday morning.
In addition, the club has sent forward Sean Couturier back to Philadelphia, as he has fallen ill with the flu. The team will be playing the second game of a six-game road trip against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night.
The news of Couturier's illness broke just before the Flyers challenged the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre on Monday night. During the game, Sam Carchidi tweeted that he was being sent back home and would be unavailable for the team's contest the next night in Winnipeg.
Early on Tuesday morning, Diana Nearhos of the Post Star tweeted that a Phantoms' source informed her that Zolnierczyk was going to join the Flyers and would likely play on Tuesday.
Zolnierczyk played in 37 games with the Flyers last season. He recorded three goals, three assists, six points and 35 penalty minutes.
