Ducks vs. Blackhawks preview: Western Conference heavyweights square off

The Chicago Blackhawks (10-0-2) will host the Anaheim Ducks (8-2-1) at the United Center on Tuesday night.

It will mark the first of three meetings between the two teams this season.

Chicago will be entering the night as the only team in the league yet to record a regulation loss. Obviously, with a run that impressive has also come the highest point total in the league, as they lead the second place New Jersey Devils by three points in the standings.

The next closest Western Conference team is Anaheim, who has only lost two games in regulation this season. Largely considered a surprise to most, the Ducks have opened 2013 with an impressive start both at home and on the road.

Interestingly enough, the Blackhawks have only played two games at home this season (2-0-0 in such games) and have built the majority of their dominating record while on the road.

Coming into the contest on a four-game winning streak, Tuesday night will mark the beginning of an extended seven-game homestand for Chicago.

Anaheim is currently in the midst of a six-game road trip, which has seen the team win two of its first three games over that span (2-1-0).

Chicago's Patrick Kane will be entering the night with the second most points in the league this season (19), as well as the third most goals (nine). He will lead the one of the league's most potent offenses on Tuesday night, which is averaging 3.42 goals per game (ranked second in the league).

Anaheim also has proven a propensity for the offensive as they are on the heels of the Blackhawks in average goals per game with 3.36 (ranked third).

The game is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m., ET and will be televised on PRIME and CSN-CH.
