Dainius Zubrus will miss four-to-six weeks after undergoing wrist surgery.

New Jersey Devils forward Dainius Zubrus will miss four-to-six weeks while rehabilitating from wrist surgery, according to an announcement by the team's public relations department via their Twitter page.

Zubrus was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday and general manager Lou Lamoriello explained that more details surrounding his situation would be determined following a more thorough observation by doctors.

The injury is believed to have been sustained during the team's 3-1 victory over the New York Rangers on Feb. 5. Following the contest, Zubrus missed four games.

With Zubrus already ruled out, the club decided to acquire forward Alexei Ponikarovsky via trade from the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday night. In exchange for the forward, the Devils sent the Jets a seventh-round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2014 draft.

This will act as Ponikarovsky's second stint with the Devils in as many seasons, as the club acquired him via trade with the Carolina Hurricanes last season before allowing him to sign as a free agent with Winnipeg.
