Coyotes vs. Predators: Mike Smith stops two near goals in final minutes of 2nd

Both shots fooled the arena crew, leading to the goal horn and goal lights going on incorrectly, but Mike Smith kept the game scoreless.

Mike Smith disappointed the Nashville Predators, their fans, and the crew in charge of sounding the goal horn and turning on the celebration spotlights - and he did it TWICE in the final minutes of the second period.

The first time he robbed Mike Fisher right on the doorstep, leading to premature goal horn that was quickly silenced. The second time Gabriel Bourque couldn't get a clean shot at an open net, and Smith made sure none of his follow-up attempts got through - though the guy in charge of the spotlights sure thought that one was in the net.

I'd like to send a message to the crew at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville: please settle down. I know you have very exciting jobs, and you really want the Predators to score, but stop jumping the gun or you might get fired.

Also, a message for the Phoenix Coyotes: play some defense, huh?
