Something's afoot. Two days ago, Ottawa Senators star defenseman Erik Karlsson suffered a torn achilles tendon after getting hit by the Penguins' Matt Cooke. He's gone for the season.
Now, it's Tobias Enstrom's turn. The Swedish defensemen left the game in the first period Saturday after Pittsburgh forward Pascal Dupuis laid a hit on him in the corner. It looked like a shoulder injury, and Enstrom is reportedly done for the night. Enstrom is the leading scorer for defensemen in the NHL and the glue on the Jets blueline, so you can imagine how big of a loss this is for Winnipeg.
What I can't imagine is what the Penguins have against Swedish defensemen. Perhaps Nicklas Lidstrom knew something we didn't before he retired this offseason.
Speaking of Detroit, Pavel Datsyuk is out for the Wings with "a nagging day-to-day upper body injury." That's about as vague as it gets, folks.
