The rookie made a ridiculous stick save.
Jake Allen just stunned the hockey world in just his second game.
The Blues were about as beat on this 3-on-2 play as a hockey team could possibly be. The Flames just completely out-passed St. Louis in the zone so badly that Vladimir Tarasenko went sprawling on his belly and Allen got pulled out of position. The result was a gaping net and an easy goal for the Flames, right?
Wrong. In a split second, Allen extended his stick back across the net and somehow stopped the shot. The puck flipped up and he snatched it up with his glove. And the amazing thing is that he did all of this with an almost comical casualness and confidence.
Wow. I don't think it's too early to call that the save of the year. Brian Elliott's rear end just got superglued to the St. Louis bench. Good for you, Jake Allen.
H/T HockeyVideoHD for the video.
