The Penguins have won seven of their past nine games, the lone falter coming in last weekend's home-and-home series against the New Jersey Devils. Since the two losses, Pittsburgh has wins over the Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets and now sit just one point behind the first-place Devils in the East.
James Neal is tied for the lead league in goals with 11, with the Penguins putting five players on the ice with ten or more points already in the season. Neal and Sidney Crosby are battling for the NHL scoring lead with Buffalo's red-hot Thomas Vanek, who leads the NHL with 11 goals and 23 points in 15 games this season.
Despite Vanek's hot start, the Sabres have been on a rollercoaster this season and still fight to rebound from a 1-6-1 stretch at the beginning of the season. The Sabres beat the Boston Bruins for the second time this season in a big win on Friday night at home and now have the chance to take on one of the top teams in the East on national television.
Puck is set to drop at 12:30 p.m. ET with national coverage on NBC.
