Maple Leafs vs. Lightning preview: Toronto looks to extend shutout streak against Tampa Bay

The Tampa Bay Lightning (7-6-1) will host the Toronto Maple Leafs (10-6-0) at Tampa Bay Times Forum on Tuesday night.

It will mark the first of three meetings between the two teams this season.

Toronto will be entering the night coming off consecutive 3-0 shutout victories. After defeating the Ottawa Senators by that margin on Saturday night, the club traveled south and repeated the effort against the Florida Panthers on Monday night.

In addition, the Maple Leafs have won six of their last seven games and have scored three goals or more in each win, as well as outscoring their opponents by a margin of 24-9.

While Ben Scrivens has yet to be announced as the starter, it seems likely that head coach Randy Carlyle will give him the opportunity to extend his shutout streak beyond its current mark of 144:51.

Tampa Bay will come into the night off a 6-5 overtime victory against the Panthers on Saturday night.

Trailing 5-4 in the closing seconds of the contest, the team managed to force overtime with the aide of an extra-attacker and then quickly ended the game a little under 90 seconds into the extra frame.

However, it was the team's first victory since the first day of February, which ended a six-game streak without a win (0-5-1).

Tuesday night's game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., ET and will be televised on LEAFS TV and SUN.
