Canucks vs. Blackhawks preview: Chicago goes for history on Tuesday night

Jonathan Daniel

The Chicago Blackhawks (12-0-3) will host the Vancouver Canucks (8-3-3) at United Center on Tuesday night.

It will mark the second of three meetings between the two teams this season.

Vancouver managed a shootout victory in the first meeting between the clubs, which is one of only three times this season that Chicago did not walk away from a contest victorious.

Having gone 15 straight games without a regulation loss, the Blackhawks will have a chance to tie the Anaheim Ducks as the only team to start the season without a regulation loss over the course of its first 16 games.

Of the three instances when Chicago failed to earn two points this season, all three have come via the shootout.

The Canucks will be a difficult opponent to extend the streak against.

Entering the night with a three-point lead (and a game in hand) in the Northwest Division, the Canucks have won five-of-seven in February (5-1-1, which included a five-game winning streak to start the month). Despite consecutive 4-3 losses this weekend, the club managed to earn a point on Sunday after falling to the St. Louis Blues in a shootout.

Tuesday night will mark the first game of a four-game road trip for the Canucks.

Heading into the night, four members of the team will be carrying two-game point streaks, which includes Henrik Sedin (one goal, three assists), Daniel Sedin (one goal, two assists), Alexandre Burrows (goal and an assist) and Ryan Kesler (a goal and an assist).

Duncan Keith (four assists) and Brent Seabrook (one goal, two assists) will also be carrying two-game point streaks into the contest.

Tuesday's game is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on SNET-P and CSN-CH.
