The St. Louis Blues hope to bounce back on Wednesday night, traveling to Colorado to take on an Avalanche team struggling with it's own consistency on the ice.
The Blues five-game stumble ended last week with a 4-3 overtime win in Detroit, a road trip that saw three-straight wins with Jake Allen in net. St. Louis suffered from the "first home game back" trap, however, showing little life in a 2-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday. The Blues have little time to recover, jumping right back on the road to face the Avalanche in what could be one of the tougher three-game stretches of the season.
Allen has allowed just two goals per game as a starter and felt his best game yet came during Tuesday's loss to the Sharks; with Jaroslav Halak back from a groin injury, it's expected the veteran will be back in net on Wednesday, however.
The Avalanche are No. 24 in the NHL at 3.07 goals allowed per game and had been struggling to find the net on offense before a three-game surge on the scoreboard. Colorado has scored 13 goals in the past three games, including a 6-5 barnburner against the Nashville Predators on Monday night.
Puck is set to drop at 10 p.m. ET with national coverage on NBC Sports Network.
