His last one was a beauty.
Maple Leafs fans have waited anxiously for Nazem Kadri to finally show his potential, and he's providing some serious highlights so far this season. And he's certainly putting on quite a show in New York right now.
The rookie came into Thursday night leading Toronto in points, and he solidified that lead with his first-career hat trick against the Islanders. Kadri got his first on a sweet toe-drag wrist shot 8:31 into the first period that had Isles defenders falling all over themselves. He scored again eight minutes into the second period before scoring his third just six minutes later. And boy, was his third a beauty. The Islanders defenders are getting schooled by a rookie.
In their defense, Kadri could be the best rookie this season. Kadri now has eight goals and 21 points so far this year after the hat trick.
