Boston College, defending national champions and Beanpot champs three-years-running, look to dispatch Harvard in the tournament opener Monday.
The opening round of 2013 Men's Beanpot tournament concludes when Boston College challenges Harvard at 8 p.m.ET on Monday night.
This will mark the 61st running of the tournament, which features the four big college hockey schools in the Boston, Massachusetts area. Each year since 1952-53, Boston College, Boston University, Harvard and North Eastern face each other in a two-round tournament that rotates opponents every year.
The winner of Boston College vs. Harvard will advance to the championship round, while the loser will play in a consolation game. Each game of the tournament will be hosted at TD Garden in Boston.
Boston College enters this year's tournament as the fifth-ranked team in the nation. They have a 15-7-2 overall record on the year. The Eagles have won the last three Beanpot Championships and will look to capture their fourth consecutive title this year.
Over the last 19 years, either Boston College or Boston University have won the tournament.
Harvard enters unranked in the nation and dead-last in ECAC Hockey with a 5-14-1 overall record. The team's last tournament championship came in 1993.
