Edmonton Oilers captain Shawn Horcoff will be out for an extended period of time due to a broken knuckle, according to head coach Ralph Krueger on Monday night.
When putting into perspective the extent of Horcoff's injury, Krueger stated that he expected the 34-year-old captain to be out for the "long-term."
This recent development compounds a string of bad-luck for Horcoff, which has spanned the past week. After suffering a sprained neck during the team's game against the Phoenix Coyotes on Jan. 30, Horcoff was forced to miss the Oilers' next two games.
Upon making his return against Vancouver on Monday, he sustained the broken knuckle, which will keep him out significantly longer. In seven games this season, Horcoff has collected a goal and an assist for two points.
